The town of Buncrana has a population of over 3300 people with a further 1400 people in the immediate environs. The town is the largest town in the Inishowen peninsula and is strategically located approximately 20km from the city of Derry and 40 minutes from the City of Derry Airport. The town provides an administrative, commercial and educational centre for the peninsula.

Donegal County Council are working in partnership with Buncrana Town Council in the provision of the Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) for Buncrana.

Route:

The route of the network is located along the network of streets in the town centre where a number of SMEs are located. Additional loops include large business development areas in Ballymacarry. Spurs are located to the IDA business park on the Derry Road, and the R238 Cockhill Road. Overall the route is approximately 10.4km in length. Backhaul is to ESBT’s splice point in Trillick.
