A Local Government ICT strategy is under development nationally which will determine priorities for sectoral ICT development over a three to five year period. In addition, a national E-Government strategy will be developed by 2012 which will set out wider public sector ICT priorities and initiatives using ICT to underpin organisational change and improved customers services.
Once these over-arching frameworks are available Donegal County Council will publish a new Information Systems Strategic Plan setting out local priorities which comply with and compliment the national strategies.
In the meantime the strategic priorities identified in the Information Systems Strategic Plan 2006 – 2009 will continue to be implemented guided by annual Operational Plans. Due to the changed economic situation projects which target operational efficiencies and improved customer service will be prioritized for implementation.
