Youth Councillors attend National Youth Conference

Members of Donegal Youth Council joined An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, T.D. and Sile DeValera, T.D. Minister for Youth Affairs at the National Youth Conference in Dublin on 16 April last.

The National Youth Conference takes place every year for young people around Ireland and the two main topics at this year’s conference were; young people taking part and Your Welfare Your concerns.

Addressing the young people An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, TD stressed the importance of youth participation and reassured the delegates that all the issues and recommendations from the conference would be brought back to the government through Sile De Valera TD, Minister for Youth Affairs. He continued by acknowledging the challenges facing the whole area of youth work and stated that Government needed to continue to support services for young people.

Minister for Youth Affairs Sile De Valera TD, highlighted the importance of getting young people involved in society and being a part of politics and informed the delegates that An Taoiseach had set up a task force to deal with active participation.
