On Thursday 22nd April at 2pm in the Donegal Public Service Centre, there will be a public consultation meeting on the next phase of PEACE III funding for Co Donegal.
Hosted by the Donegal CDB Peace and Reconciliation Partnership, the meeting hopes to establish the needs and hopes of organisations working towards peace and reconciliation, vis a vis the next round of PEACE III funding. Feedback on how PEACE III has been working to date, and concrete ideas and proposals for the future will form part of this consultation. One of the strengths of the current Donegal Peace III Action Plan 2008 -2010 was the high level of public involvement in its creation and it is hoped that a similar level of public input will go into the next plan.
Phase 1 of this PEACE III funding brought €4.7million to support building better relations at a local level in Donegal via a range of projects and organisations. These projects have covered a broad range of activity from youth work, to intergenerational projects, single identity work, sports programmes, and arts projects that have addressed both the issues of sectarianism and racism in our communities.
A consultation document has also been prepared and is available to all members of the public at www.donegalcdb.ie.
Based on the level of interest and involvement in PEACE III projects in Donegal it is anticipated that this meeting will be very well attended so get there early to have your say on the new Donegal Peace III Action Plan.
