Donegal County Council To Undertake Regeneration Project in Dungloe

Donegal County Council intend to commence work on a Regeneration Project in Dungloe on Monday 6th April, 2009. The works will involve the following:

  • construction of a new car park to provide 133no. car parking spaces with associated landscaping,
  • upgrading of the car park access road
  • provision of a new 1.5m footpath on one side.
  • creation of a new street between the carpark and the Quay Road
  • new street furniture and street lighting

This is a major regeneration project which will greatly enhance the appearance of the town centre and assist local trade by increasing the availability of car parking space.

The all-in-cost of the project is estimated at €650,000 and is funded by the Council’s Development Contribution Scheme provided by levies on private development and a contribution from An Roinn Gnothai Pobail Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta.

The successful tenderer for the project is Wills Bros Ltd., Civil Engineering Contractors, Foxford, Co. Mayo.

In order to facilitate the works, it will be necessary to close the existing foreshore car park from Monday 6th April 2009 until Friday 26th June, 2009, inclusive.

The recycling banks at this site will be withdrawn. A full recycling service will be available from April 16th at the new Civic Amenity Site in the Údarás na Gaeltachta industrial estate. For more information contact (074) 9561300.

Donegal County Council requests the co-operation of the business community, residents and the public and regrets any inconvenience caused during the construction period.
