County Donegal Development Plan 2006- 2012

Donegal County Council resolved to make the County Development Plan 2006- 2012 on 11th July 2006 subject to a number of modifications. The new policy will become effective on 8th August 2006 in accordance with the Planning & Development Act 2000. Decisions taken on planning applications from the 8th August 2006 will be made under the policies of the new plan.

The new plan sets out the policies of Donegal County Council in respect of the spatial strategy, transport & communications, employment generation and enterprise development, housing, environmental services and protection, natural resource development, the built & natural heritage, tourism and the Gaeltacht, culture, sport & recreation.

The text of the new plan (in a preliminary format) should be available for viewing on 8th August 2006 at www.donegalcoco.ie, in County House, Lifford and in the Councils Public Services Centres and the offices of the Executive Engineers in Ballybofey, and in the office of Buncrana Town Council, Bundoran Town Council, Ballyshannon Town Council & Letterkenny Town Council. The final and bilingual County Development Plan will be available for inspection and purchase following a formal launch during September/ October 2006 on a date which is yet to be set. A cost has not yet been established and will be established once the final publication requirements are identified.

Changes that have been adopted in relation to the policies of the new plan will not be available until 8th August 2006 when you will be able to view a copy of the plan in its preliminary format. Before 8th August 2006, it is not possible to provide information as to the content of the new plan as the final and complete text is being compiled at present.

All decisions made from 8th August 2006 in respect of an application for planning permission, including decisions as a result of a request for further information, will be made on the basis of the new policies set out in the new County Development Plan 2006- 2012.
