EMERGENCY RESPONSE MEASURES.
Due to the prolonged dry weather, the output of the boreholes has significantly diminished. As a result, in recent days, supply has been unable to keep pace with demand.
Some degree of rationing was introduced earlier this week by turning off the water supply to the Corkey area overnight. This measure has failed to adequately deal with the situation and it will now be necessary to turn off the entire Manorcunningham Water Supply area each night, from 8.00 p.m. until 8.00 a.m., commencing tonight, 24th August, until further notice. The Council will keep the situation under review with the view to restoring full service as early as possible. Realistically, we anticipate that it will be some weeks before normal service is resumed.
Consumers are urged to conserve water throughout the supply area. Householders should check for, and repair, faulty internal plumbing. Farmers are urged to check field and farmyard supplies and to ensure that no wastage takes place. Builders are also requested to ensure that no wastage takes place on building sites.
Donegal County Council regrets any inconvenience caused. The public will be kept informed of developments through local newspapers and radio.
