Donegal Tourism Providers Encouraged to Sign up to
Elected members and representatives from the tourism industry joined Donegal Tourism Ltd today in the County House Lifford for the launch of govisitdonegal.com by Mayor of Donegal County Council, Cllr. Frank McBrearty.
The focus of todays launch was to call on all tourism providers in Donegal to sign up to this new website, to get their business listed on what will be the main website for visitors coming to Donegal.
The development of GoVisitDonegal.com has been led by Donegal County Council under the auspices of Donegal Tourism Ltd and in partnership with a range of organisations including Failte Ireland North West, the elected members of Donegal County Council, Donegal Hotel Federation, B&B Ireland, and Donegal Hotel Federation.
County Manager and Chair of Donegal Tourism Ltd, Seamus Neely has welcomed this initiative explaining that “Donegal Tourism Ltd, was set up over ten years ago to co-ordinate the marketing of County Donegal as a world-class holiday destination. Donegal County Council has been involved in Donegal Tourism Ltd since its outset and has worked with the tourism trade in the rolling out of a Donegal TV Ad Campaign, marketing and promotion initiatives at home and abroad, and the publication of the Donegal Holiday guide. GoVisitDonegal.com will present Donegal as a high-quality, value for money holiday destination. The website will assist Donegal’s tourism service providers by driving business and visitors directly to them through online marketing and promotion”.
“Today represents the start of the process in terms of the development of content on the website. Over the coming days and weeks, GoVisitDonegal.com will evolve, grow and develop with the input of the entire Donegal tourism sector. I would like to thank our partners in this project, Failte Ireland North West, the elected members of Donegal County Council, Donegal Hotel Federation, B&B Ireland, and Donegal Hotel Federation”.
Since August 2012, work has been ongoing with the Donegal Hotel Federation, B&B Ireland, Donegal Self-Catering Association, and a variety of product providers from golf to surfing in an effort to create an attractive and user-friendly website. In addition to this Donegal Tourism Ltd have led out on a high profile registration campaign involving the publication of a newsletter, social media, a trade workshop and direct marketing.
Mayor of County Donegal, Cllr. Frank McBrearty, stated that “the development of the tourism industry is of vital importance to the economic well-being of County Donegal. The sector accounts for a large proportion of the employment throughout the County. I therefore welcome the development of GoVisitDonegal.com. I would urge all the tourism service providers, from accommodation to nightclubs, taxi companies to tour guides, shops, café’s and restaurants to register with the new website before the kick-off of the tourism season”.
