The Donegal Road Safety Working Group officially congratulated Highland Radio on their recent Road Safety Authority (RSA) award in recognition of their contribution to road safety in the County. The event took place at the Highland Radio office in Letterkenny on Friday, 9th January, 2009.
The RSA presented the first ever Leading Lights Road Safety Awards to members of the public for their work in road safety around the Country in December. Nine awards were presented to people from community groups, companies, industry groups, and schools, with Highland Radio receiving the overall or ‘Supreme Award’.
Speaking at the event, Donegal Road Safety Working Group Chairman, Stephen Lambert said, “ We are delighted that Highland Radio, and particularly Charlie Collins, has been recognised for their contribution to improving road safety in the County. Highland Radio have supported our campaigns by producing adverts, discussing road safety on various shows and participating in the Road Safe Road Show held annually in the Aura Leisure Centre.” Among the other recipients of the Leading Lights Road Safety Awards was Susan Gray, Founder of Public Against Road Carnage (PARC), whose husband Stephen was killed in a road collision four years ago and who has since dedicated herself to raising awareness of road safety.
