Re: Appeal to the public to be mindful of the limited water resources
The summer has finally arrived and the soaring temperatures are welcome in most quarters. The Water Services in Donegal County Council however would appeal to the public to be ever mindful of the limited water resources, which are available to us.
The rising temperatures in recent days have resulted in increased demands on the water supply systems. When coupled with day-to day operational difficulties, e.g. burst watermains, such increased demands are increasingly challenging to manage.
The public can greatly assist and the Water Services throughout the County appeal to all consumers to make an extra effort to conserve water usage, particularly during these summer months.
Please do not leave taps running in fields or in homes. Any suspected leaks or wastage should be reported to the County Council immediately. Water conservation is the business of everyone, in the home, on the farm and in the place of work.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
J Holohan,
Director of Service,
Water, Environment & Emergency
