The Higher Education Grant Scheme for 2006/2007 has still not been received from the Department of Education & Science for whom the Council administers the scheme. This is considerably later than other years – issued at end of June in 2005. Despite numerous calls to the Department, no definite indication has been given as to when the Council can expect to receive the Scheme.
Application Forms for Higher Education Grants are available and details have been advertised in the local press. However, to date there is a very slow response.
Donegal County Council would encourage students to submit their applications, together with supporting documentation i.e. P60’s, Birth Certificates etc, as soon as possible. This will allow for the preparatory work to be completed and speed up assessment when the Scheme is received.
There is no need for panic at this stage.
