Donegal County Council’s Cultural Services Division Presents
Cois Life Editor, Seán Ó Cearnaigh and Writer Lorcán Ó Treasaigh in a unique evening presentation

In an effort to promote Irish writing and publishing to readers and writers all over Ireland, CLÉ – Irish Book Publishers’ Association, with the support of The Touring Experiment and the Library network are delighted to announce the first in a series of 34 Publisher/Author events taking place over 18 venues across the country from July to December 2007.

This inaugural event will see editor Seán Ó Cearnaigh, Cois Life and writer Lorcán Ó Treasaigh speak at Dungloe Library on Friday, 27 July 2007 at 8pm.

Seán Ó Cearnaigh will speak on his career in publishing, the commissioning process – how he decides what books to publish and why, the publishing process and all that is involved: editing, production, marketing, sales, rights, etc., and the ongoing working relationship with the author.

Lorcán Ó Treasaigh will then speak on his career as a writer, including the commissioning process from the writers’ perspective, that is, how to get published! Lorcán will also talk through the publishing process including insights into the working relationship before, during and after publication of any book. Lorcán will then give a short reading.

Both publisher and author will take questions from the floor throughout the event.

All are welcome to attend - writers and readers groups are particularly encouraged to come along for an insight into this unique relationship and to learn directly from the publisher and author all about the publishing process.
