Donegal Peace III Action Plan

The Donegal CDB Peace and Reconciliation Partnership have opened a public consultation process on the next phase of Peace III funding for the county.

The Donegal Peace III Action Plan 2008 -2010 secured €4.7million in funding for a wide range of activities aimed at challenging attitudes towards sectarianism and racism and supporting conflict resolution and mediation at a local level. These activities are now being delivered by a wide range of bodies across the county.

The next phase of Peace III funding will be the last and the Donegal CDB Peace and Reconciliation Partnership are anxious that the impact of this final phase of funding will be far-reaching and long lasting.

Groups and individuals are invited to contribute to the consultation process via the www.donegalcdb.ie website where a Consultation Document can be downloaded and returned. In addition, two Public Consultation Meetings will be held in

Letterkenny Public Service Centre on Tuesday April 20th from 2pm – 4.30pm,
and
Donegal Town P. S. C. on Thursday April 22nd from 2pm – 4.30pm.

The public consultation will close on May 7th 2010.

Chairman of the Donegal CDB Peace and Reconciliation Partnership, Cllr Dessie Larkin said:

‘We want to hear from everyone who has a commitment to delivering anti-sectarianism and anti-racism work in their communities and all those groups who are working to develop better relations between their neighbours here in Donegal and with communities across the border.’

Secretary of the Partnership, Anne Marie Conlon added:

‘The strength of the Donegal Peace Plan is that it came from the community, the grassroots, and that’s what we want for phase II. The people on the ground know the issues that they face, and most often they know the solution too, so we are inviting everyone with an interest in building peace and integrating communities to get involved in this consultation process.’
