27 March 2006 - Contract Signing for €24m Donegal Bay Wastewater Management Scheme

This afternoon, will see Donegal County Council sign contracts with a Joint Venture including Veolia Water Ireland, Veolia Water (UK) and Bowen Water Technology for the Design Build and Operate Contract of three Wastewater Treatment Plants, Main Pumping Stations and rising mains, Sludge Treatment Centre and outfalls for the Towns of Donegal, Ballyshannon and Rosnowlagh.

The construction element of this venture is valued at €24 million and represents a huge investment in protection of the environment and will also facilitate economic development in the area.

Donegal County Council in its committed objective of providing State of the Art Wastewater Treatment Plants for Donegal Town, Ballyshannon and Rosnowlagh are fulfilling its statutory obligations under the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive.

The three schemes will be constructed in conjunction with the Network contracts for Rosnowlagh and Ballyshannon. The Network contracts are to commence shortly.

The signing will take place today in the County House, Lifford at 1.00pm.
