The answer is the opening of our new innovative children’s exhibition “Touching the Past” on Thursday next 9th March.
The “Touching the Past” exhibition is the first of its kind in Donegal to allow children to interact directly with the County Museums’ collections. The exhibition aims to show that history can be fun and interesting. It will stimulate learning by allowing children to touch real objects that are traditionally kept behind glass in museums. Interactive activities will be associated with each theme so that children can learn about museums while at the same time having fun. The themes include Archaeology, Mystery Artefacts, Forensic Photography, Printing and Coins. The exhibition has been specially developed for children aged between 4 and 12.
This exhibition has been supported by Special EU Programmes Body under Measure 5.2, of the Peace II Programme and is part of the Peace Building in the Border Counties project, a joint project between Strabane District Council and Donegal County Council.
