LYIT Road Safety Week

The LYIT in association with the Donegal Road Safety Working Group have organised a series of road safety events for the coming week. The programme is part of a pilot initiative by the Road Safety Authority to target third level students.

Tuesday 10 March, 2009
10am – 4 pm – The Road Safety Authority Exhibition Trailer. This 40ft interactive trailer will be on campus, in the car park outside the BDC

12.30pm –1.15pm -Mock Collision (Launch Event) – Assisted by the Emergency Services- Witness a collision and the excellent work that the emergency services do to save lives.

1pm-4pm -‘i102-104fm’ radio station will be live from Letterkenny Institute of Technology. The iwork with Dave show will be broadcasting all of the days events and also talking to students and playing music and giveaways!

2.30pm -3.30pm- North West Alcohol Forum will do a 1 hr session about Drink / Drug Driving. This talk will include a discussion and Questions and Answer session.

Wednesday 11 March, 2009
10am – 4 pm – The Road Safety Authority Exhibition trailer. This interactive trailer will be on campus, in the car park outside the BDC

11.30 am and 2.30pm – ‘Garda RoadSafe RoadShow, It wont happen to me’, takes place in the BDC. Each 90 minute talk will take you through the real impact and repercussions of a major collision.

1.15pm – 2.30pm – Law Society Debate – Topic ‘Is 17 years of age an appropriate to hold a driving licence’. This debate will take place in the BDC.

Thursday 12 March, 2009
10am – 4 pm – The Road Safety Authority Exhibition trailer. This interactive trailer will be on campus, in the car park outside the BDC

11.30 am and 2.30pm – Road Safety Quiz and DJ on-campus – This will take place in the canteen with spot prizes for the winners!
