Wednesday morning will see the resumption of recycling activities at Carndonagh Civic Amenity Site when the newly upgraded facility opens it gates to the public. For the past 6 months construction work has been taking place at this site upgrading Carndonagh Civic Amenity Site to the standard of the other five facilities now operational throughout Donegal.
The materials accepted for recycling at Carndonagh remain the same as before with a total of 27 items collected for recycling at the facility.
Many items will continue to be accepted free of charge these include, Glass bottles and jars, Food, Drink and Aerosol cans, Textiles, Batteries, Bulbs, Waste Electrical Items, Mobile Phones and Print Cartridges.
Charges have, however been introduced for materials such as Paper, Plastic, Cardboard, Tetra Pak, Scrap metal and Waste oils. The minimum charge for a car full of these materials is €10. Please check detailed list of charges below.
Bulky Items will now also have a charge, which will be based on each item. The facility for Bulky Items is to deal with a one – off large item for example a sofa. These items are for disposal only. A comprehensive list of items and charges are available in this page and it is very important that householders are familiar with all the charges and materials accepted before visiting the site. Items not otherwise specified will be charged on the basis of the nearest comparable item. The decision of site staff will be final.
