County Donegal Book of Honour, The Great War 1914-1918

Have your say on the County Donegal Book of Honour, The Great War 1914-1918

Donegal County Museum is updating and reprinting the County Donegal Book of Honour: The Great War 1914-1918. To assist us in updating the Book of Honour we are inviting the public to consult the draft version of the Book in order to check the details provided and advise us of any new names to be added.

What is the County Donegal Book of Honour?

Donegal County Museum has been undertaking research on all those from Donegal involved in World War I for a number of years. The Museum has previously organised exhibitions and a programme of events examining the story of Donegal’s role in the War.

The County Donegal Book of Honour: The Great War 1914-1918‌ contains the names of all those from Donegal who died during World War I. The County Donegal Book of Honour was first published in 2002 and was the culmination of the hard work and dedication of Paddy Harte (Snr) and the County Donegal Book of Honour Committee who oversaw the research and compilation of all the information contained within the Book.

What are we doing?

Donegal County Museum is planning to update and reprint the County Donegal Book of Honour, The Great War 1914-1918.  In the years since the book was first published more information has become available on the men and women who died, including those who enlisted in countries such as Canada, Australia and the USA.  We plan to launch the updated and reprinted Book of Honour in November 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War I.
