The Museum is on the High Road in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, Ireland. It is in an old stone building that was once part of the Letterkenny Workhouse and is opposite the Revenue office.

ENTRANCE FEES: FREE ADMISSION

SEASON: All Year. Closed on Public Holidays


OPENING TIMES:

Monday – Friday       10.00 am – 4.30pm (10.00 - 16.30)

Saturday                     1.00pm – 4.30pm (13.00 – 16.30)

Closed for lunch        12.30pm-1.00pm (12.30 – 13.00)

 

GROUP BOOKINGS NECESSARY: Yes

Guided tours for group booking are requested to be arranged in advance. (Subject to availability)

 

RESEARCHERS: Researchers are welcome by booking an appointment in advance.

 

AVERAGE VISIT LENGTH: 45 minutes

 

EXHIBITION: History of Donegal from Stone Age to Twentieth Century. Various temporary exhibitions and events all year round.

 

INFORMATION GUIDE: A Guide to the first Floor exhibition is available in French, Spanish and Polish.

 

Activities for Children / Families / Groups

'Donegal Museum Detectives' is a fun and educational family backpack which encourages and engages children and families to discover more about the history of County Donegal. The 'Donegal Museum Detectives' backpack is available to borrow free of charge by visitors to the Museum. It contains a variety of activities including objects to handle, which have been designed to engage children and families with the CountyMuseum exhibitions.
