Outreach

The annual programme of the Archives Service includes outreach activities at locations around the county. Bealtaine and Heritage Week are two festivals in which the Archives Service participates.

Bealtaine

Bealtaine is a nationwide festival for older people. County Archives and County Museum staff participate in the festival by organising reminiscences every festival at day centres around the county during the month of May.

The idea is simple and the format very informal. People are invited to sit back, relax and chat with one another while Archives and Museum staff hand around selected items of local interest from the collections of the Archives and Museum.

Heritage Week

Every year the Archives organises events - exhibitions, talks or seminars, for Heritage Week, held during the last week of August.

The Archives Service regularly participates in other events, conferences and festivals and staff are always willing to give talks to local history groups or other interested parties.
