[ This grant scheme has been suspended since 2011. A replacement 'Structures at Risk' scheme will operate for 2012 ]
Donegal County Council adopted its first Record of Protected Structures (RPS) for County Donegal in December 2003. If your building is on, or eligible to, the Record of Protected Structures, it may be eligible for a conservation grant. In general, funds are provided for up to 50% of the cost of works, to a maximum of €13,000. In exceptional circumstances, the amount of grant may be reviewed upwards to 75% of the cost of the works to a maximum of €25,000. Works must be completed within the year of grant allocation. Applications for the conservation grant scheme usually close in February each year. Remember that the planning authority should be consulted before any work to a Protected Structure takes place and note that planning permission may be required for works that are normally considered exempted development.
