The County Donegal Heritage Office is part of the Cultural Services Division of the Community, Culture & Planning Directorate of Donegal County Council. The County Donegal Heritage Office began operation in July 2003 with the appointment of County Donegal’s first Heritage Officer. The Heritage Officer Programme is a joint initiative between The Heritage Council and Local Authorities in Ireland. Donegal County Council is committed to “placing heritage at the heart of public life” in County Donegal as set out in the National Heritage Plan and in Cultural Connections, the Strategic Plan for Cultural Services.
