1. Manage and administer funds eg Peace II, Members Development Fund, Community Development Fund, Bursaries, Tourism Development Fund etc
2. Employ a number of Community and Enterprise Administrative Officers whose role includes:
- Promoting the co-ordination and integration of service delivery between local government, voluntary public sector and local development bodies operating within the local authority areas, especially in relation to cross-sectoral interests, community, social inclusion, economic and enterprise development.
- Assisting with the development, implementation and review of appropriate strategies/plans/policies
- Promoting awareness of the Local Authority’s policies and activities on community, social, economic and infrastructure development..
- Supporting the work of the County Development Board and the Community Forum/Area Fora
- Encouraging and assisting social partner organisations throughout the local authority area.
3. Has a dedicated Research and Policy Unit that is currently building up baseline data for the county and undertaking a number of strategic economic, social and cultural research projects.
4. Employs a number of Development Workers to develop the following areas or sectors in County Donegal i.e Walking Routes, Non-food uses of Agricultural land, Youth Sector, Heritage, Tourism, Marine and Water Leisure, Forestry, Irish Language etc
5. Supports the development of a vibrant Community and Voluntary sector in County Donegal by:
- Providing dedicated support to the County Community Forum and the Area Fora
- Identifying community and voluntary groups and facilities in the county
6. Promotes Cross Border Developments (economic, social and cultural) and to establish
partnerships for such development with local authorities in Northern Ireland
7. Promotes Social Inclusion in County Donegal by providing the secretariat for the Social Inclusion Measures Group and through the pursuit of a number of social inclusion projects
8. Coordinates and assists the Donegal County Development Board (and essential CDB Structures) in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Integrated County Strategy for Economic, Social and Cultural Development
