There are three different Schemes under which tenants can purchase their Local Authority Dwellings, depending on the period of their tenancy and the dwelling they are occupying.
1995 Tenant Purchase Scheme for Purchase of Local Authority Dwellings 2011 Purchase Scheme for Long Standing Tenants Incremental Purchase Scheme The 1995 Scheme is available to most tenants who have a minimum of twelve months tenancy whereas the 2011 Scheme is only available to tenants of ten years standing or longer. The Incremental Purchase Scheme only applies to new dwellings which have been specifically designated by the Local Authority as being eligible for purchase under the scheme. When a tenant is being offered a dwelling, they will be advised if it is being designated under the Incremental Purchase Scheme.
