Part 8 Burtonport Harbour Development

Donegal County Council proposes to carry out development on Burtonport Harbour as described below.

 

The proposed development is located in the Harbour area of Burtonport, in the Glenties Municipal District. This Phase l of the redevelopment of Burtonport harbour seeks to address the traffic congestion issues and provide a safe harbour for all users and visitors by providing suitable road infrastructure, pedestrian facilities and parking.

 

The proposed works include:

 

  • Demolition of existing buildings (Store buildings, auction house and Co-op building) to facilitate the realignment of the road and the provision of additional parking spaces;
  •  Minor horizontal and vertical realignment of approx. 200m of the local road in the vicinity of the Harbour;
  •  New road markings to improve traffic flow around the harbour inc. additional parking bays and ferry vehicle stacking area at main slip way area;
  •  Additional parking for car, bus and RV including designated long stay, fishing industry and large vehicle parking;
  • Footpaths, landscaping, hard stands, green areas, street furniture, public lighting etc.

 

The plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase for a fee not exceeding the cost of making a copy at Donegal County Council, County House, Lifford, Co. Donegal, F93FK22 or Dungloe PSC, Gweedore Road, Dungloe, Co. Donegal, F94 H4CF between the hours of 9.00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. and 1.00 p.m. - 4.30 p.m. from the 2nd May 2019 to the 31st May 2019, inclusive.

 

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and development of the area in which the development is situated may be made in writing to:

The Co. Secretariat, Donegal County Council, Lifford, Co. Donegal, before 4.30pm on Friday 15th June 2019.

 

Note that in accordance with Article 120(1)(b)(i) o f the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) Donegal County Council has concluded, based on a preliminary examination of  the nature, size and location of the development, that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is not required.
