Waste Collection in County Donegal has been fully privatised since 1994. Donegal County Council oversee the regulation of the system, issuing permits to collectors. Only permitted collectors can operate in the County. A list of the collectors can be seen below. All waste collected must be disposed of at a licensed landfill site; any individuals found to be disposing of waste illegally will be prosecuted. Donegal County Council operates one landfill site at Ballynacarrick, Ballintra.

Ths site will be closed on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

From the 1st February 2012, all new waste collection permit applications and applications for the review of waste collection permits, shall be processed by the National Waste Collection Permit Office (NWCPO), Offaly County Council, Aras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore, Co.
