Carndonagh Community Library was the scene of great excitement as 14 local schools competed to be crowned overall champion in the 2019 Battle of the Books grand finale. The 14 schools participating were: Clonmany N.School, Cloontagh N.School, Craigtown N.School, Donagh N.School, Gaelscoil Cois Feabhail, Glengad N.School, Rasheney N.School, Scoil Eoghain , St. Mary’s N.School, St Patrick’s Boys, St Patrick’s Girls, Tiernasligo, Urblereagh, Cholmcille National School, Greencastle.
Battle of the Books is a reading programme developed and introduced by Donegal County Council Library Service to schools in Inishowen. The literacy programme focuses on the enjoyment of reading with emphasis on encouraging teamwork in the classroom.
The winning team for 2019 was Cholmcille National School, Greencastle, Carndonagh Library presented them with the perpetual shield and individual trophies for each team member.
