May Bank Holiday at the RCC

The Domestic Godless who will be in residence at the RCC for the weekend.

Regional Cultural Centre Letterkenny has a very interesting, very full and slightly bizarre programme of events for the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

The Bank Holiday has been the slot for the Distorted Perspectives experimental music festival in recent years. This year has a stripped down Distorted Perspectives featuring two small but perfectly formed concerts in the intimate space of the RCC’s Main Gallery.

Crevice from Cork play Friday May 4th and Jeffrey Lewis from New York City plays Saturday 5th. Both concerts start at 8pm and tickets can be booked at An Grianán Theatre Box Office on 074 91 20777 or online at regionalculturalcentre.com.

Cork-based culinary artists The Domestic Godless will also be in residence at the RCC for the Weekend. The artists will be present throughout the day on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May from 11am to 5pm to present some of their incredible edible repertoire. The residency will also include two free public events on Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 2pm.

Distorted Perspectives

There are two intimate Distorted Perspectives gigs featuring Crevice on Friday May 4th and Jeffrey Lewis on Saturday May 5th.

Crevice, a collaboration between three well-established Cork musicians, Irene Buckley, Elaine Howley and Roslyn Steer use layers of vocals, synths and electronics to craft a rich, wide-ranging sound with elements of pop and darkwave in an immersive ambience.

Described by the New York Times as an indie-rock Woody Allen and the natural successor to Lou Reed, Jeffrey Lewis returns to the RCC. He began his career with homemade cassettes in the late 90’s, before moving on to touring the world and releasing “proper” albums since 2001.

Cork-based culinary artists The Domestic Godless (Stephen Brandes, Mick O’Shea and Irene Murphy) will be in residence, as part of their whistle-stop national tour, at the RCC for the May Bank Holiday Weekend. You are invited to come along and visit them in-situ as they concoct a buffet of local and far-flung foods as material for irreverent experimentation. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

The artists will be in residence at the RCC throughout the day on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May from 11am to 5pm to present some of their incredible edible repertoire. The residency will also include two free public events/performances on Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 2pm.

The hour-long events will feature a visual, sonic and tactile tasting performance with slide show, short videos and a reading from their recent publication 'the food, the bad & the ugly'.  A selection of tasters and tinctures, at the very edge of comprehension, will be served during the performance.
