11/03/19 Stranorlar Recreation Facility

Plans of the proposed Stranorlar Recreation Facility.

Donegal County Council is currently undertaking a Part 8 Public Consultation on the proposed Stranorlar Recreation Facility.

Donegal County Council proposes to carry out the development of a Recreational Facility, consisting of a public park, recreation area, all weather multi-purpose pitch, multi-use building, car park and associated works at Drumboe Avenue in the townland of Drumboe Lower TD in the Stranorlar Municipal District.

The proposed development will include the following proposed works:

A public park including paths and planting (wildflower, sensory, grassed areas etc), improved access to the existing Drumboe Martyrs memorial (Reg No. 40838001), seating areas and an extensive array of native trees. 

1. Provision of a recreation area incorporating a secure soft play area (toddlers & children) with seats and benches and an outdoor gym area.
2. Development of a 3G all weather, multi-purpose pitch suitable for a variety of sports with hooded flood lighting, construction of perimeter fencing with gates and all necessary ancillary works
3. Construction of a multi-use building which will include changing rooms, public access toilets, office and multi-use room.
4. Widening and upgrading, where necessary, of the L-2754-2 local road to provide a pedestrian footway and safe access and egress to the proposed development.
5. Associated ancillary works to include car-parking, site drainage, connection to the public water supply and other services, landscaping, appropriate boundary treatment, advance direction signs and other development related signage, installation of public lighting, construction of a wastewater pumping station and discharge to public sewerage network, suitable oil interceptor for surface water runoff from the car park.

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and development of the area in which the development is situated may be made in writing to the Council Secretariat, Donegal County Council, Lifford, County Donegal, before 4.30pm on Monday 1st April 2019.
