28/08/19 Donegal Connect Launches Short Video Competition

Donegal Connect Video Comp

Donegal Connect has launched a short video competition which aims to follow up on the success of #LoveDonegal day earlier this month. “We’re inviting people to enter videos of 30 seconds or less about ‘their’ Donegal,” says Donegal Connect spokesperson Joanne Kilmartin.

The prize is a three course dinner in Cedars Restaurant and overnight stay for two people with full Irish breakfast at the fabulous 5 star Lough Eske Castle Hotel in Donegal.

“We are looking for people who can let their passion for their county leap right off the screen,” says Joanne Kilmartin, the Donegal Diaspora officer with Donegal County Council – a lead partner in the Donegal Connect project. “#LoveDonegal day got an incredible response from what was mainly pictures and short messages alone. You can tell an even better story with video, and that is what this competition is about.”

“So, in 30 seconds or less, tell us about the unique things, places or people you love most about Donegal. Tell the world what’s so amazing about living here, working here, or running your own business here. Tell them why it’s such an incredible place to visit or why they should invest in Donegal. But most of all, we want to hear YOUR story, told your own unique way.”

"We're absolutely delighted to sponsor this video competition,” says Donal Cox, General Manager of Lough Eske Castle. “We can't wait to hear short stories from our friends, guests and locals as to why Donegal has a special place in their heart."

Selection of the winner will be carried out by a panel of judges, which includes Ciara Sugrue, Head of Festivals with Fáilte Ireland. “This video competition is an ideal way to share your own special vision of Donegal to a global online audience,” says Ciara.  “It’s also a great way to promote Donegal and inspire people to come and see it for themselves.”

The other judges are: Michael Tunney, Head of Enterprise with Donegal LEO, Anne Marie Conlon, Communications Manager with Donegal County Council, video producer Paul McGuckin of Landscape Ireland, hotel and tourism expert Deirdre McGlone, and PR expert Trish Hegarty of Inis Communications.   The winner will be announced on Monday 16th September.

The competition opens today (Wednesday 28th August) and closes at 12pm on Friday 6th September. To enter, you must be aged 18 or over. Check out all the details and conditions here.
