Donegal Local Authorities, in recognising and accepting their responsibilities for health and safety, genuinely believe that all injuries and occupational illnesses are preventable, and as a consequence are totally committed to the health, safety and welfare of all their employees and those affected by our work.

 

To achieve this commitment:

 

  • We will actively strive to eliminate all potential workplace hazards that would lead to injuries and occupational illnesses
  • We will seek to improve, develop and implement Safe Systems of Work for all tasks that our employees undertake
  • We will ensure the competency of all our employees to engage in safe working practices and behaviour by the provision of adequate information, training and supervision
  • We will continuously strive to improve the effectiveness of our Safety Management by ensuring that Managers audit and monitor regularly safety management systems
  • We will involve all our employees in our Safety Efforts.
  • We will involve our Contractors in Proactive Safety Management
  • We will, as a minimum, comply with all applicable occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
  • We will assess new methods for carrying out work in order to provide Safer Systems of Work

 

We are doing this because we believe we can eliminate all injuries and occupational illnesses and attain World Class Safety Performance.‌
