Congratulations to the community groups recently awarded funding from the Healthy Ireland Community Mental Health Small Grant Scheme 2020.
A small grant scheme comprising of €30,000 funded by the Department of Health and administered by the Local Community Development Committees (LCDCs) in each Local Authority area. Projects were eligible for funding of between €2000 and €5000 under the Healthy Ireland theme of Mental Health. The fund was open to not-for-profit local community groups, voluntary and sporting organisations to help raise awareness of the importance of looking after health and wellbeing at community level.

In light of evolving restrictions adopted nationally in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the deadline for the Healthy Ireland Small Grants Scheme has been extended until 4pm, Friday 1st May 2020.

Healthy Ireland, A Framework for Improved Health and Wellbeing 2013–2025, is the national framework for action to improve the health and wellbeing of the people in Ireland. Now in its 3rd year, the ‘Healthy Ireland Fund’ aims to support innovative, cross-sectoral, programmes and initiatives that support key national policies in areas such as mental health, physical activity, nutrition and sexual health, tobacco and alcohol and development of spaces and places for health and wellbeing.
Healthy Ireland is funded by the Department of Health and administered by the Local Community Development Committees (LCDCs) in each Local Authority area. Cllr. Martin McDermott, Chair of Donegal LCDC invites applications from community and voluntary organisations for the newly established Healthy Ireland Community Mental Health Small Grant Scheme 2020, which will help raise awareness of the importance of looking after health and wellbeing at community level while supporting the implementation of the County objectives and policies.
The Scheme offers small grants for projects with a minimum spend of €2000 and up to a maximum of €5000 and comprises of €30,000 in total. It is available to not -for- profit local community groups, voluntary and sporting organisations which promote positive mental health and eligible activities include -
Funding is exclusively for programme activity under the Healthy Ireland theme of Mental Health and the grant period will run from 1st March 2020 to 30th June 2021. Closing date for receipt of application is 4pm Friday 27th March 2020.
