Funding to develop routes within the North West Greenway Network has been provided by INTERREG VA, with match funding from the Department for Transport in Dublin, and the Department for Infrastructure in Belfast. The routes are as follows:
Route 1 - 32.5kms
Derry via Pennyburn and Bridgend border crossing to Buncrana (with a spur to Newtowncunningham)
(NOTE: planning for the Derry section was approved in October 2021; construction is scheduled to commence Q4, 2022. The planning application for the Donegal section will be submitted in the coming weeks.)
Route 2 - 10.5kms
Muff village to Derry via border crossing
(NOTE: construction on the Muff section commenced in September 2021 and is due to be completed by April 2022.)
Route 3 - 3.5kms
Strabane to Lifford via Lifford Bridge
(NOTE: this route has been completed.)
Lifford to Castlefin - 7.5kms
Along the N15 national road
(NOTE: this route has been submitted for Part VIII planning.)
