06/12/18 Atlantic Irish Fest set for Bundoran this January

Henry Girls

The Henry Girls are confirmed to perform at Atlantic Irish Fest.

A brand new event, Atlantic Irish Fest, will take place from 19-23 January offering guests a unique take on Ireland and the chance to immerse themselves into the music and culture of Donegal.

The four day event coincides with the Milwaukee Irish Festival trip to Ireland, and the visitors will have the opportunity to learn a little about the history and culture of the area, with introductory talks and guided tours. They can also choose from a range of outdoor activities including beginner surfing and horse riding, and enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere with festival visitors from all over the world.

Dr Niamh Hamill, cultural director of the festival says ‘Lots of visitors to Ireland don't want a tourist experience, they want to immerse themselves in the local atmosphere. Atlantic Irishfest is all about bringing you into the heart of our community, and showing you the best of everything on offer in Donegal. Every guest will have the chance to explore what they like about Ireland, whether it's history, food, music, culture, surfing or craft beer- there will be people to make sure you get what you want, and really enjoy yourself.' Co-director John O’Connell reminds us that bands on the festival program include The Logues, The Henry Girls, and Johnny Gallagher and the Boxtie band, and that each of these bands have a huge fan base world-wide. This is a fantastic experience to see all three bands in a more intimate setting.

Donegal Castle

Donegal Castle is one of the locations on the itinerary for guests.

Bundoran Tourism Officer Shane Smyth added ‘We are delighted to have an event of this calibre in Bundoran in January. Our festival guests can look forward to an enjoyable, authentic visit to our beautiful town and see exactly what makes the town tick mid Winter. The programme that is lined up is an impressive one with activities that are bound to please everyone. We look forward to welcoming our guests from across the world this January and compliment Niamh and John for their organisation of the event.’
