Cllr Terence Slowey new Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council

 

Cllr. Terence Slowey was elected as Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council at yesterdays AGM.

 

Cllr Slowey who is a member of the Fine Gael Party was first co-opted onto Donegal County Council in May 2001 and has served on the Council since then.  He was also a member of Donegal VEC and served as its chairman in 2005/2006. 

 

A native of Ardara, Cllr Slowey is an elected member of the Glenties Municipal District. 

 

Speaking following his election as Cathaoirleach, Cllr. Slowey said that one of his priorities in his tenure will be the promotion of tourism in Donegal all year round.  

 

“We have a lot of specific outdoor activities that people will come to Donegal for even outside the traditional tourism season and while a lot of work is being done in this area, I am keen to promote this further as this has the potential to create jobs in every part of Donegal”.

 

Cllr Slowey expressed his delight at being elected Cathaoirleach by his peers on the Council saying “I am delighted to have the opportunity to chair Donegal County Council and I would like to thank my colleagues on Donegal County Council for their vote of confidence in me and I look forward to working with each and every one of them in the coming 12 months.”
