The members of the Letterkenny / Milford Municipal District were delighted to confer a Civic Honour on Teresa McDaid at a reception held at the Public Services Centre, Letterkenny last evening.

The award is in recognition of Teresa’s outstanding contribution to local and internation sports. Teresa was the team manager of the Irish Athletics Team during the recent Olympic Games in Paris and filled a similar role in the previous Olympics in Tokyo 2021.

Some notable highlights in Teresa’s career were being the first female manager of an Irish athletics team, being named Athletic Ireland Coach of the Year twice, and receiving a leadership award from European Athletics.

Cllr Gerry McMonagle, Mayor congratulated Teresa on her success and acknowledged the important role model that she has become to the young people in the community.

Minister secures Government approval to open Emergency Humanitarian Flooding Scheme for Small Businesses affected by Storm Bert

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Peter Burke TD today (27 November 2024) secured Government approval to open the Emergency Humanitarian Support Scheme for small businesses, sports clubs, community and voluntary organisations unable to secure flood insurance and affected by recent flooding in Counties Cork, Donegal, Galway and Kerry and any other counties affected by Storm Bert over the weekend.
