Background
Donegal County Council proposes to amend the Draft Seven Strategic Towns Local Area Plan 2018-2024 for the towns of An Clochán Liath (Dungloe), Ballybofey-Stranorlar, Ballyshannon, Bridgend, Carndonagh, Donegal Town and Killybegs, by making 118 Material Alterations, comprising of the following:
An Clochán Liath (Dungloe): 17 Material Alterations
Ballybofey-Stranorlar: 17 Material Alterations
Ballyshannon: 26 Material Alterations
Bridgend: 9 Material Alterations
Carndonagh: 9 Material Alterations
Donegal Town: 25 Material Alterations
Killybegs: 12 Material Alterations
General: 3 Material Alterations
The Council has determined that a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Appropriate Assessment (SEA) are required to be carried out and these Determinations can be viewed at the links below. Arising from these Determinations, Reports containing information on (a) the likely significant effects on the environment of implementing the proposed material alterations; and (b) the likely significant impact of the proposed material alterations upon the Natura 2000 network of European Sites (Appropriate Assessment) have been prepared and can also be viewed at the links below.

Background Notes
At a meeting of Donegal County Council on 26th March 2018 and in accordance with section 20 (3)(d) of the Planning and Development Act (as amended), the members of Donegal County Council considered the Draft Local Area Plan and the Chief Executives Report on submissions or observations made during the public consultation process, and decided to amend the Draft Local Area Plan. The Amendments include a total of 118 proposed material Alterations.
Pursuant to Section 20(3)(f) of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended), the Planning Authority determined that a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Appropriate Assessment (AA) were required to be carried out as respects a number of specified proposed Material Alterations. In addition, and pursuant to Section 20(3)(g) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), a period of 4 weeks from 13th April, 2018 was specified as being required to facilitate the aforementioned assessments after which time the proposed Material Alterations would be made available for inspection and consultation, and submissions and observations invited.
