The Gap to Grey Rock Estate - Milford - Active Travel Scheme

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ACT 2000 (as amended)
PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001 (as amended)
ARTICLE 81

NOTICE PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 81, PART 8 OF THE ABOVE REGULATIONS, RELATING TO A PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT BY DONEGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

Donegal County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out the development of improved pedestrian facilities along a section of the L-1242-1 The Gap to Grey Rocks Estate, Milford in the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District.

The proposed footway, measuring approximately 580m in length will be located in the townlands of Millford and Rossgarrow and will introduce improved footpaths along the L-1242-1 to provide the pedestrian safety improvements to facilitate a pedestrian linkage from the entrance to Grey Rock Estate to The Gap Junction, Milford. The new footway linkage seeks to provide a safe, high quality mobility infrastructure that is accessible, age friendly and maximises comfort to people of all ages and abilities. This will largely involve traffic calming measures, providing a more structured uniform carriageway throughout the extents of the scheme and providing appropriate pathways encouraging active travel as the preferred transport option to Milford Town Centre, local schools and amenities.

In accordance with the Planning and Development Regulations, Donegal County Council, as a competent authority, has concluded from a Screening Determination, based on an examination of the type, size and nature of the proposed development that there is no likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and as such has determined that an EIA is not required, the details of which are available to the general public.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection (or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy) during normal hours from 9am on Thursday, 23rd February 2023 until 4pm on Tuesday, 28th March 2023 (inclusive) online and at the following location:

  • Milford Public Service Centre, Main Street, Milford, Co. Donegal, F92 TD0P.
  • Lifford Public Service Centre, County House, The Diamond, Lifford, Co. Donegal, F93 Y622.
