Additions to Record of Protected Structures in Donegal

Donegal County Council is proposing to add on structures to the Record of Protected Structures in Donegal.

These additions are being made in line with the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH) which has been rolled out over the last five years by the Department of the Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.

The NIAH Survey of Donegal identifies, records and evaluates post-1700 architectural heritage in order to help protect this important aspect of our heritage.   Arising from this, recommendations have been made to Donegal County Council in relation to including additional structures, or specific parts or features of structures in the County’s Record of Protected Structures.

In this regard, Donegal County Council is proposing to make additions to the current Record of Protected Structures and the proposed additions are on public consultation from 27 March to the 12 May 2017.

Individual owners and /or occupiers have been notified directly and where such details could not be identified, notices have been attached to the structure in question.   Proposed additions can also be viewed here.

A series of Drop-in events are being held this week and the Council’s Conservation Officer will be available to deal with queries or concerns arising from this programme.
