LADDER

The Minister of State at the Department of the Foreign Affairs & Trade, Joe Mc Hugh T.D., has launched the LADDER Project Grant Scheme 2016, in conjunction with the Social Inclusion Unit in Donegal County Council.

The launch, which took place at the National Level Training session for Elected Representatives and members of the Strategic Policy Committees, set out how the scheme will support grass root actions on development education. A minimum grant of €2,000 and a maximum grant of €6,000, grant aided at 100%, will be made available to community organisations.

Minister Mc Hugh who has responsibility for the Diaspora and Overseas Aid said “I very much welcome the opportunity to officially launch this grant scheme which has been made available as part of the EU funded LADDER Project in conjunction with Donegal County Council to help to develop & support activities in the field of development education and awareness-raising locally”.

The Minister added “this investment in sustainable development recognizes the role that communities can play in the promotion of the sustainable development goals locally and appealed for local community organisations to avail of this opportunity for European assistance that is being made available for sustainable development projects in their areas”.

This European funded grant scheme seeks specifically to support micro-projects that aim to raise public awareness of global development issues and promote development education locally.  The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 09th September 2016.
