05/12/18 Update on the Donegal TEN-T Priority Route Improvement Project

Work on identifying the Emerging Preferred Route for each section of the Ten-T network in Donegal is continuing and it is expected that public consultations on the Emerging Preferred Route will take place in February 2019.

Three sections of the TEN-T network in Donegal have been prioritised for improvement to address existing safety and operational issues, these are;

  • Section 1 – N15/N13 Ballybofey/Stranorlar Urban Region,
  • Section 2 – N56/N13 Letterkenny to Manorcunningham and
  • Section 3 – N14 Manorcunningham to Lifford / Strabane / A5 Link

Since the Public Consultations in April and May 2018, Donegal County Council’s National Road Design Office has been working to identity an Emerging Preferred Route for each section of the project.  Surveys are now complete and this information is currently being analysed and appraised.  No route has been selected or shortlisted at this point as the assessment process has not yet been completed.

It is expected that public consultations displaying the Emerging Preferred Route for each section of the project will take place February 2019 and it is planned that the final Preferred Route Corridor for each section will then be presented to the public at further Pubic Consultation in March / April 2019.

Details on the public consultation process will be available in the local media and on www.donegalcoco.ie, www.donegal-ten-t.ie as well as on the Councils Facebook and Twitter platforms.

Every effort will be made to contact landowners who are directly affected by the Emerging Preferred / Preferred Route Corridors prior to these public events and separate private meetings can be arranged.
