LAIT - One Donegal Social Inclusion Week - Heritage Walk and Trail in Buncrana
A second event hosted by the Local Authority Integration Team took place in Buncrana as part of One Donegal Social Inclusion week.
Refugees living in the Buncrana and wider Inishowen area were given a walking tour of Buncrana by a local expert guide who delved into the history of the town.
The walk supported the integration of those living in the area by providing them the opportunity to better know and understand the area they are now living in. It was a beautiful sunny day which highlighted the natural beauty of the area, and all the participants commented on how delighted they were to learn about the history of Buncrana such as the tradition of the mills, Wolfe Tone’s connection to the town, Cahir O’Doherty, giving a deeper and more meaningful connection to the place they now call home.
