Raphoe Heritage-Led Regeneration Strategy & Action Plan

Donegal County Council’s Regeneration & Development Team in conjunction with Paul Doherty Architects and Cala Architects is pleased to announce the commencement of a process to prepare a Heritage-Led Regeneration Strategy & Action Plan for Raphoe Town Centre. The Strategy & Action Plan will be prepared in line with the new National Policy ‘Town Centre First – A Policy Approach for Irish Towns’ and will be regeneration and renewal focused with an emphasis on heritage and conservation and a view to strengthening the role, image, vibrancy, vitality, and resilience of Raphoe town centre.

The process will commence with a first stage of Public Consultation to inform the preparation of the Draft Regeneration Strategy & Action Plan. This will include for a streetside Consultation Event that will take place on Thursday 24th July 2025 at the Diamond, Raphoe, from 2.00pm – 7.00pm.

Your participation is essential so come along and talk to the consultants and share your thoughts, your ideas, and your aspirations for your town centre.

You can participate by:

                     Attending the streetside event on Thursday 24th July 2025 and providing feedback;

                     Scanning the attached QR code and participating in the Town Regeneration Survey;

                     E-mail: regeneration@donegalcoco.ie with your comments; or

                     Write: to the Regeneration & Development Team, Donegal County Council, Old Army
               Barracks, Lifford, Co. Donegal, F93 PN3H.

The public consultation period will close on Friday 8th August 2025 at 4pm.

This project is funded through the Historic Towns Initiative implemented by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and the Heritage Council which aims to promote the heritage-led regeneration of Ireland’s historic towns.

Letterkenny – Investing in the Future Public Information Event

Moville Regeneration Strategy & Action Plan

The launch of the Moville Regeneration Strategy and Action Plan took place on Thursday 18th September 2025 at 7pm in Glencrow Hall, Moville. Donegal County Council’s Town Regeneration Officer, Patricia McIntyre, welcomed members of the public as well as the Cathaoirleach of the Inishowen Municipal District, Martin McDermott and Councillor Martin Farren to the event. Patricia said that it was “a pleasure to launch the Regeneration Strategy and Action Plan for Moville which has been prepared by GM Design Associates following a detailed public consultation exercise earlier this year. This plan presents regeneration proposals for Moville that will create a vibrant town centre for people to work in, live in and visit.”

Cathedral Quarter Park Project

Donegal County Council is pleased to announce a public consultation process for the ‘Cathedral Quarter Park’ Project in Letterkenny – an urban development project which will create an exciting new park with a Creative Enterprise Hub in Letterkenny’s Town Centre.
