Waterworld's Áine Temple is presented with the NQS Gold Standard Award by Karl Dunne of Ireland Active at the ceremony at the Johnstown Estate in County Meath.

Waterworld in Bundoran has been awarded the Ireland Active NQS Gold standard award, the highest NQS (National Quality Standard) award that can be achieved and the only facility in the county to be awarded it.

The award was presented to Waterworld General Manager Áine Temple at a ceremony held at the end of October.

This is the third time in a row that the gold status has been achieved by the popular Bundoran water park which opened in July this year following extensive refurbishment throughout the winter months.

Speaking on accepting the award Áine said ‘we are beyond thrilled to have received this accolade for the third year in a row. It’s a testament to our hard-working staff that we have achieved this award again, particularly following the opening of our extended changing village, viewing area and shop/café. A massive thanks to each member of the team who have worked so hard this season, and we look forward to having them back when we reopen for the 2026 season next Easter.’

Karl Dunne, CEO of Ireland Active said ‘The success of the National Quality Standard is a true reflection of the dedication and professionalism of our members nationwide. Each year, facilities go above and beyond to deliver safe, high-quality experiences that support healthier, more active communities. The Conference and Awards are a celebration of that excellence and of our shared commitment to raising standards, enhancing safety, and delivering outstanding service across the sector.’

Cllr Michael McMahon, Chairperson of Waterworld Bundoran CLG added ‘this has been another great year for Waterworld and I want to acknowledge the work of Áine and her team who have once again achieved gold status with the Ireland Active Awards. The hard work and dedication of her team throughout the year during the building works and throughout the busy summer season reinforces the professionalism that guests have come to expect when they visit Bundoran’s key tourist attraction. The high standards front of house and behind the scenes make all this possible and it’s a credit to the full team.’
