Heritage Council scheme supporting heritage organisations

The Heritage Organisations Support Fund, that provides financial support to not-for-profit non-governmental organisations working in the heritage sector, is now open for applications.  The Heritage Council scheme enables heritage organisations to fund staff salaries, rent costs, the hiring of new staff, training and skills development and piloting new ways of working.  Applications can be made on-line on the Heritage Council’s on-line grants management system until 5 p.m. on Monday, 26 January 2026.

“The Heritage Council supported two County Donegal-based heritage organisations in 2025” explained Joseph Gallagher, Heritage Officer.  “The Brian Friel Trust and the Inishowen Maritime Museum were successful under the scheme which provides funding up to a maximum of €50,000 per organisation.  Organisations submitting applications must be able to demonstrate either their regional or national relevance and must be undertaking actions that assist in the delivery of national policy and plans.  A full overview of eligibility criteria and other relevant details are available from the Heritage Council’s website www.heritagecouncil.ie

In order to assist applicants to the scheme, a recorded webinar is available to watch on the Heritage Council website at:  www.heritagecouncil.ie/funding/heritage_orgs-fund.  Advice is also available from the County Donegal Heritage Office, Donegal County Council by e-mail at heritage@donegalcoco.ie or by telephone on (074) 917 2576.
