Donegal County Council Welcomes Teamster President

Donegal County Council will officially welcome Sean M. O'Brien, President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, to the Council Chamber in Lifford on 11th March. During his visit, Mr. O'Brien will be received by Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr. Niamh Kennedy, Chief Executive John G. McLoughlin, and Leas-Cathaoirleach of the Inishowen Municipal District, Cllr. Terry Crossan, at a special reception.

Sean M. O'Brien has been a leading figure in the labour movement for decades and currently serves as the President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, one of the largest and most influential trade unions in the United States. Known for his strong advocacy for workers’ rights, he has been a prominent voice for fairness and justice in the workplace. Mr. O'Brien's visit is particularly significant, as he has deep familial ties to the Inishowen area of Donegal, further strengthening the connection between the O'Brien family and the region.

Cathaoirleach Cllr. Niamh Kennedy said: "It is a privilege to welcome Sean M. O'Brien to Donegal County Council. His commitment to advocating for workers’ rights and his strong ties to this community make this visit even more special. We look forward to engaging with him and continuing to build the bonds of solidarity."

His leadership in the labour movement has had a profound impact globally, and it is an honour to host him in Lifford.
