Post Consumer Textile Campaign
Donegal County Council is supporting the national Post Consumer Textiles Campaign by encouraging householders to reuse and recycle unwanted clothing, paired footwear and household textiles correctly.
Residents are advised to ensure items are clean, dry and neatly bagged before donating and to use the Textiles Reuse & Recycling Map on MyWaste.ie to find donation points across Donegal, including clothing banks, charity shops and Donegal County Council managed recycling centres.
This campaign supports ongoing Donegal County Council efforts to reduce textile waste, prevent illegal dumping and promote a more circular economy.
- Textiles represent a significant waste stream nationally and correct preparation improves reuse outcomes
- Donegal County Council manages and supports textile drop offs across the county, including recycling centres and bring bank locations.
- Incorrect disposal and leaving bags beside banks contributes to litter and illegal dumping, which the campaign seeks to reduce.
- You can find details on new textile reuse and recycling map on mywaste.ie. Over 1,500 locations are available with further locations such as retail return to be added in coming weeks.
- Citizens are encouraged to keep their local environment clean by not leaving bags outside the clothing banks or Charity Shops. If a bank is full you can find an alternation location on the textile reuse and recycling map on mywaste.ie
