Cumann Luthchleas Gael Bheart Honoured with Civic Reception

Donegal County Council honoured Inishowen GAA club Burt on Friday evening (28th November 2025) at a Civic Reception at the County House, Lifford.

The club was recognised for their achievement in winning sixteen Donegal Senior Hurling championship titles in a row from 1991 to 2006.

The ceremony was presided over by Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr Paul Canning, Chief Executive John G. McLaughlin, and the MC for the evening was Mr Bryan Cannon, Director of Roads & Transportation.

Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr Paul Canning was delighted to host this Civic Reception acknowledging that, “It is with great pride that I stand here today representing this Council to recognize the remarkable accomplishments of Burt GAA Club winning sixteen Donegal Senior Hurling championship titles in a row from 1991 to 2006. I am sure that this is an incredibly special day for the players both past and present, the managers, coaches, everybody associated with the club and all their family members.”

The Chief Executive of Donegal County Council, John G. McLaughlin said that, “As Chief Executive of Donegal County Council I extend my deepest gratitude to those individuals, managers and coaches through their passion and expertise that have nurtured players into champions. Your commitment to their growth and development has brought pride to your club and has inspired countless others to join the club over the years to participate in the gaelic games… All-Ireland quarter final tomorrow in London”

The Club was presented with a specially engraved piece along with an official scroll marking the occasion of the Civic Reception.

The Club thanked the Council for honouring them in this way and attendees were treated to refreshments after the event in the Lifford Old Courthouse.

Donegal County Council pays tribute to former County Manager Michael McLoone

Donegal County Council is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former County Manager, Michael McLoone. Mr. McLoone served as County Manager from 1994 until his retirement in 2010. He was a dedicated and passionate leader who made a lasting impact on our county. While many important capital projects were delivered during his tenure with the Council, he will most notably be remembered for a remarkable transformation in local government in the county with the decentralisation of offices.

Donegal County Council publishes 2025 Gender Pay Gap Report

Donegal County Council has today published its Gender Pay Gap Report, highlighting the percentage difference between what men and women are paid on average in the organisation, irrespective of roles or levels.
