Storm Bram – Extended Status Orange Weather Warning for Donegal and A Status Red Marine Storm Warning now in place!

A Status Orange Wind warning issued by Met Éireann ahead of Storm Bram will come into effect in Donegal from 10:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025 and extend to 21:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025 with orange level winds now more likely to extend inland and the West/Northwest most likely to experience the highest winds associated with this event.

The status Orange Wind Warning for Donegal reads; ”Storm Bram will bring very strong to gale force southerly winds with severe gusts. Possible Impacts: Flooding of low-lying coastal areas, especially during high tide; Wave overtopping; Difficult travel conditions; Debris and loose objects displaced; Outdoor events impacted; Power outages Valid; 10:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025 to 21:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025

A Status Yellow Wind Warning is also in place for the entire county; Valid: 06:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025 to 21:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025

The public are also advised of the following updated Marine Warnings;

A Status Red - Storm Warning is in place from Loop Head to Erris Head to Malin Head with “South to southwest winds will occasionally reach violent storm force 11. Valid: 12:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025 to 23:30 Tuesday 09/12/2025”

A Status Orange Storm Warning is also in place from Valentia to Erris Head to Malin Head with "Southwest to west winds will reach storm force 10. Valid: 10:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025 to 00:00 Wednesday 10/12/2025.

A Status Yellow Gale Warning is in place for all coasts of Ireland and on the Irish Sea with “Southerly gales, later veering westerly, will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 during Tuesday for all Irish coastal waters and the Irish Sea, with storm force winds for some west and northwest areas. Valid: 00:00 Tuesday 09/12/2025 to 00:00 Wednesday 10/12/2025”

The public are asked to monitor exercise caution during this period of inclement weather and to Monitoring Met Éireann forecasts over the next 24 hrs – conditions may change quickly. Visit https://www.met.ie/ for the most up to date information. Information is also available across the Met Éireann App, social media platforms (@meteireann) and other news media sources.

Donegal County Council have activated their Severe Weather Assessment Team and are continuing to monitor the evolving situation and all Council resources are at a heightened state of readiness in response to this period of unsettled weather.
