The members of the Letterkenny / Milford Municipal District were delighted to confer a Mayor’s Reception in honour of North West 10k held at the Public Services Centre, Letterkenny last evening.

The award is in recognition of the organisation’s outstanding fundraising services to local charities in Donegal.

After 28 years of the North West 10K Charity Run & Walk, it was announced in May 2025 that the event has now raised over €1 million for charity since it first launched in 1997.

Neil Martin (Chairman) accepted the award on the committee’s behalf and thanked the committee members and volunteers who tirelessly devote their free time to promote and run the organisation.

Cllr Ciaran Brogan, Mayor, congratulated Northwest 10k on their success and acknowledged the important role that volunteerism plays in local communities.

Students to the fore in tackling the under-representation of women in Donegal County Council

Making politics an official subject in all Donegal schools at Leaving Cert level, the creation of a county-wide public speaking competition, a mentorship programme involving retired/ former county councillors who could share their experience with people new to politics, and bursaries for women to help them cover the cost of running for election were just some of the innovative recommendations made by students to Donegal County Council in order to see more women elected in the next local elections.
